Journey in the Desert: Day 31

Being obedient to God is scary. I've always known that it was hard, but sometimes it's downright scary.

My husband and I have been praying about whether or not he should tell his employer that he's looking for a job in MI. On one hand, telling them would be honest, and he could use them as a reference. On the other hand, telling them before he had a job lined up could be shooting himself in the foot.

After much prayer, my hubby decided that telling them was the right thing to do. He was presented with an opportunity yesterday to talk with their Operations Manager, and he took it. The OM was really good about it...he told my hubby that he understood, and that he would have a job with them until we're ready to move. The OM was really grateful that my hubby was honest with him, because now they can start looking for and training a replacement, and they know that my hubby has the best interest of the company in mind. He even said that he and the president would give my husband great references, and any help that we need.

The scary part is that we could still be out here for another 6 months...or a year, even! It totally doesn't make sense for my husband to have told his boss. My mom pretty much told us that last night, when she heard the news. She thinks we may have ruined the job that he has.

But...my husband and I are confident that God is directing us every step of this journey. And my husband was filled with a sense of peace after telling the OM. God's ways don't usually make sense to the world. We're hoping that this is just another aspect of trusting Him. It just puts us out a little further on the limb we're already out on. But that's all part of trusting Him, right?

Yikes!
